I did plan to purchase a license for this program sometime very soon even though I don't need the Blu-Ray functionality but I definitely consider this current problem one that the author needs to address and prevent from occurring in the future.

Regardless of that I found myself unable to launch the program yesterday to quickly rip an SD DVD to an MKV on my HDD so that I could stream it to another device. I am getting an 'application version is too old' even though I have a registration key. Look for all 'MakeMKV' KEYs and delete them (Keys are top checkbox in the find box in regedit.) Unfortunately, the author has failed to release an update before the expiration which is a serious annoyance. Opening MakeMKV, which no longer had the 'application is too old.' notification.

I believe that the whole point of the expiration is to not have people using really old beta versions especially after the product is out of beta testing. Set back PC date to 2 weeks before (I used the 5th). MakeMKV is among the newest and most popular video streaming software on the market today, and it really is an outstanding piece of software. I installed the last version about 1 weeks ago ish (not 60 days) I got the message that the version is to old so i updated to the latest version.
